Hays County History Presented Tonight

Dripping Springs residents Travis Garnett and Bradley Davis are among the World War II veterans featured in the documentary film “Hays County in World War II," which is presented by the Hays County Historical Commission (HCHC).  The film is based on recorded interviews with Hays County veterans who served in the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines during World War II. Their reminiscences about leaving the rural life of central Texas to travel thousands of miles to Europe and the South Pacific are mixed with original period photos and documentary footage of the attack on Pearl Harbor, the battle of Iwo Jima, the landing at Normandy, and much more.  Also included in the film is the story of the San Marcos Army Air Base that brought more than 10,000 servicemen to our county to learn navigation in the central Texas skies.  7:30pm Monday, August 27, at the office of Precinct 4 Commissioner Ray Whisenant, 195 Roger Hanks Parkway (just south of Hwy 290 about 1.5 miles west of RR12).
