Summer Fun at Sports Country

One of our favorite summer activities for the kiddos in Dripping Springs, Texas is Sports Country Camp.  Sports Country offers day or overnight camp experiences for children 7 - 13.  Soccer, baseball, tennis and swimming along with a little science thrown in all take place on beautiful property winding down Barton Creek.  The sports are wonderful at SC camp, but campers also leave with a boost in their self confidence, leadership skills and new friendships.  I hear that they still have a few spots left, so please visit http://www.sportscountrycamp.com/ for more info!

Dripping Springs Friend to All: Patti Clark

Patti Clark, longtime Dripping Springs resident, will receive the Philanthropy Award from Austin Groups for the Elderly at their annual awards dinner tonight.  Patti has been a champion for services for seniors in the Dripping Springs area for many years. As one of the founders and current President of the Friends Foundation, she has led the organization to raise money to provide critical services for low-income seniors. Her leadership in fundraising has allowed seniors in the community to continue to receive the services they need.  Patti is a full-time volunteer for many other organizations in our community in addition to this.  A few of the other groups she tirelessly helps include PAWS Animal Rescue Shelter and the Austin Zoo.  Patti -- we thank you for sharing your gifts and time!

Fabulous Fashion in Dripping Springs

Miranda Darr, talented style consultant and owner of Wardrobe MD spoke today at the Dripping Springs Women's Club.  Miranda was very entertaining and informative.  A few of her tips for Spring 2010:  the dress is the centerpiece of the season; every outfit needs a "little topper" (sweater, jacket, etc.); pants are making major statements (be sure the type you choose flatters you) and bold accessories are a MUST.  For more information, please visit http://www.wardrobemd.com/.

Founders Day Festival Memories

It was another great Founders Day Festival in Dripping Springs this past weekend.  It always amazes me to see how many creative and talented friends we have who are participating in all areas of this famous old DS event.  Many we knew were smoking anything with legs in the cook-off contest -- not to mention burning our lips with incredible and unusual homemade salsas.  Several of our pals were showing hand-crafted jewelry and art in the vendor area.  Over on the stage, I was thrilled to see so many of my friends who are tremendous musicians performing for the crowd.  I don't think you could live anywhere else and be blessed with such talent:  Lonnie Atkinson, Jim Halfpenny, Ron White, Ragan Altizer, Nathan Thrash and Martin Aker of Edison Chair -- check them out, they're going to be big!  Martin's parent's Deborah and Roger kept us all rocking with their magical classic hits and John Rogers fiddled away with the headline group Saturday night.  Stay tuned to DrippingSpringsLife.com for more on this great music.
