Brighton Beach Comes to Dripping Springs

I guessit is Fine Arts Season -- the fall play for the DSHS theatre department opens next month.  From Mrs. Koske's press release:  The Dripping Springs High School Theatre Department is bringing Brooklyn to the Hill Country with its production of Brighton Beach Memoirs, Neil Simon’s hilarious, semi-autobiographical play! This will be the inaugural production in the Black Box Studio Theatre at the new high school campus.  The coming-of-age comedy premiered on Broadway in 1983 and made a Tony-winner of star Matthew Broderick.  It was followed by a popular film version in 1986 (starring Blythe Danner and Jonathan Silverman). Dripping Springs Theatre is excited to be performing this modern classic in the intimate Studio Theatre. This will be something a little different for Dripping Springs audiences, who have not had a small theatre venue in town. This play is intended for teen and adult audiences. There is discussion of sexuality and mild language in this performance. Due to the limited audience seating in the Studio Theatre, patrons are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at the DSHS Main Office (920 Hwy. 290 W, Dripping Springs, TX, 78620). Ticket sales will begin on October 18, 2010. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students in advance. At the door ALL tickets are $10.00. Performances will begin at 7:30pm on November 4, 5, 6, 11, and 12. A Matinee performance will begin at 2:00pm on November 7. The Black Box Studio Theatre is located in the Fine Arts Building, room F206.
